Absolutely. We welcome custom enquiries for floating shelves and furniture. Send us your dimensions, preferred timber, any reference images and your delivery postcode through the quote form or contact page. We’ll discuss the details and provide a quote before you order. Our cutting boards are available from the pieces listed in our collections.

Yes, we offer delivery within Adelaide and Australia-wide. Delivery options and charges depend on the product and destination. Every piece of timber has its own grain and colour. Product photos show the style and timber type, but your piece will have natural variations. Our shelves and furniture are supplied in a high-quality satin finish. We do not offer colour matching.
-
Our standard floating shelves are available in Victorian Ash, Tasmanian Oak and American Oak, with depths of 135mm, 185mm and 220mm. Shelves are approximately 32–34mm thick. Available lengths and prices are listed on each product page. For other sizes or timbers, request a custom quote.
-
Yes, our standard floating shelves are supplied with concealed mounting pins for suitable wall construction. The pins sit inside the shelf, leaving no visible brackets once installed. We do not currently supply fittings for steel-frame homes. For steel framing, we can supply the shelf timber only; the customer or their tradesperson must source suitable fittings and arrange installation. Please contact us before ordering so we can confirm timber-only supply.
-
Yes. Select the pre-drilled option when ordering your shelf. We’ll confirm the hole positions with you before drilling so they suit your installation. If you prefer to drill the holes yourself, select the undrilled option.
-
We recommend having your floating shelves installed by a suitably qualified tradesperson. Mounting pins must be secured to suitable structural supports or masonry using fixings appropriate for your wall. Holes in the back of the shelf slide over the pins to conceal the hardware. Pins must be spaced no more than 500mm apart, measured centre to centre. Van Hees Woodworks is not responsible for shelf failures, damage or injury caused by incorrect installation or unsuitable wall fixings, to the extent permitted by law. This does not exclude or limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
-
Suitability depends on your wall construction and the support behind it. We recommend that a suitably qualified tradesperson confirms the fixing method before you order. For steel-frame homes, we can supply the shelf timber only. We do not currently offer steel-frame fittings; sourcing suitable fittings and installing the shelf is the customer’s responsibility, either through DIY or a tradesperson. Contact us before ordering to arrange timber-only supply. For tiled or masonry walls, your installer must select suitable fixings. Plasterboard alone is not suitable structural support.
-
Load capacity depends on the shelf size, mounting pins, wall construction, fixings and installation. We do not give one weight rating for every installation. Tell us what you plan to place on your shelf before ordering, and have your installer confirm that the wall and fixings are suitable.
-
Wipe with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water, then dry with a clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive pads. Wipe up spills promptly, avoid soaking the timber and use coasters or protective mats under hot or wet items.
-
Clean with water and dry promptly. Do not soak your board or put it in the dishwasher. Care and maintenance can vary with the finish, so contact us for advice specific to your board, including when and how to refresh its finish.
-
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change an order. You can cancel for a full refund before we purchase materials specifically for your order or begin production. Once either has occurred, change-of-mind cancellations are not available. Changes at that stage depend on what is possible and may affect the price or lead time. This does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
-
We do not accept returns or exchanges if you change your mind, including for ready-made items. Please check the dimensions, timber and other options carefully before ordering, and contact us if you need help choosing. This policy does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law for faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.
