Choosing Your Timber
Vic Ash
Light in colour with a fine, straight grain. Vic Ash is a great option if you’re after a clean, natural look and a lighter timber that works easily with most interiors.
Tasmanian Oak
A little warmer in colour, with plenty of natural variation from board to board. Tasmanian Oak can range from lighter straw tones through to warmer browns and subtle pinks.
American Oak
Known for its more pronounced grain and classic oak appearance. American Oak has warm, natural tones and is a good choice if you want the grain of the timber to stand out.
How Your Shelves Are Fitted
Fix the pins to your wall
Secure the mounting pins to suitable structural supports or masonry, using fixings appropriate for your wall type.
Slide your shelf into place
Align the holes in the back of your shelf with the pins, then slide the shelf towards the wall.
A clean, floating finish
Once fully fitted, your shelf sits flush against the wall with the mounting pins concealed inside.
Lead Time, Fixings & Installation
Made to order
Allow two weeks for your shelf to be made before dispatch. Delivery time is additional and depends on your location.
Shelf thickness and fixings
Each shelf is approximately 32–34mm thick. Standard shelves include concealed mounting pins for suitable wall construction. Pins must be spaced no more than 500mm apart, measured centre to centre.
Optional pre-drilling
Choose pre-drilled mounting holes or leave your shelf undrilled. We’ll confirm the hole positions with you before drilling so they suit your installation.
Installation
We recommend installation by a suitably qualified tradesperson. Mounting pins must be secured to suitable structural supports or masonry using fixings appropriate for your wall. Plasterboard alone is not suitable structural support. The shelf slides over the pins to conceal the hardware.
Steel-frame homes
We do not currently supply fittings for steel-frame homes. We can supply the shelf timber only; the customer must source suitable fittings and arrange installation, either through DIY or a tradesperson. Contact us before ordering to confirm timber-only supply and any drilling requirements.
Installation responsibility
Van Hees Woodworks is not responsible for shelf failures, damage or injury caused by incorrect installation or unsuitable wall fixings, to the extent permitted by law. This does not exclude or limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
